Overview/synopsis of show

My podcast/show will be reviewing newly released films mainly, but also films which are still relevant after release, and in media/ known for their use of techniques etc. A new podcast will be available each fortnight on friday. Rather than doing an overall review of the films, it will be a more factual take, explaining how certain techniques/elements in the film help create meaning and purpose. Creating a better piece of work in cinema. This will have a fairly broad audience, targeting 16-30 year olds, but mainly people who are interested in film. The podcast will be factual but include elements of discussion. I plan to speak about a few certain elements/scenes of each film per episode, and have the guests opinion/intake of the situation. Rather than an opinion-based podcast it will be mainly factual.

Intro	(pause for a few seconds) (Opening song will fade and ‘visions of gideon’ will begin to play, maintaining a low volume) There’s something quite wonderful about Luca Guadagnilios love story ‘ call me by your name’... something about it which no other film seems to accomplish - every scene in the movie is very intricately planned, all possessing lots of meaning. No scene is dragged out too long - nor placed for the purpose of ‘filling space’. Today's focus will be around the ending sequence of the film, and how the music in conjunction creates this academy award winning piece of filmmaking. (music continuing to play) ...As the credits begin to roll the movie ends with a long shot of Elio crying in front of the fire, feeling his pain, and not turning away from it...the music you hear in the background ‘visions of gideon plays throughout this shot, as this occurs we feel a sense of disparity, alongside Elio, feeling his pain like we have experienced it. In the song the line ‘is it a video?’ is repeated throughout, and it’s reflective of the past - like Elio is replaying his relationship with Oliver like a video. But it seems like a vision as it’s so far gone by now. This scene with Elio crying all happens while the music is still playing - demonstrating the integrity of the songs in the film and how impactful they can be in conveying thoughts and emotions. Marking the beginning of their romance. Music is very influential in creating thoughts, and is used as a means of development in the film, being played in these brief pauses in dialogue - which makes them stand out, rather than a collective of songs played throughout the film, we hear them as individual pieces linking them to these scenes. Helps these scenes stand out and stick with us - similar to how one song may remind us of one summer, these songs remind us of the summer of 83’ in northern italy - making us feel as if we have lived this experience. ...And it's the music that's stuck with me and many others from the film, the songs in the movie play off memories - hearing them provokes thoughts about the film. Almost making us feel like we’ve lived this summer with them. And some scenes you directly connect to the music from the soundtrack.	25 seconds

Review part 1	As the song ‘mystery of love’ begins to play in the movie etc In the scene when Elio admits his feelings for Oliver the camera is uncomfortably far away from both characters (something which should be an intimate moment) this lack of intensity - the separation between them is really effective at conveying the difficulty Elio has in expressing these thoughts.  (insert audio clip from scene - 10 seconds) The monument in this shot is also symbolic of the distance between them which society brings upon them.  The director Luca Quadagnino follows the same philosophy of ‘not cutting away from our feelings’ in this scene as he does in the final scene - and many others. Throughout the entire duration of the film a 35mm lens is used, making it seem like the human eye, bringing air to become a more personal experience. - as does the fact we’re forced to go through these very personal moments with Elio. By the end of this movie they’ve become each other; calling each other by their names - as the title suggests. They do so as the idea of loving another - can only be done... once you become each other. And we feel as if we have just gone through this whole summer with them - making this experience so much more immersive and personal.	3 minutes

Vox Pops  What questions and why will you ask the public (Family members or friends)	I will not be asking questions in my podcast as there are no debate/questionable areas to discuss with audience members.
Script overview / Structure  Structure from start to finish  What will happen straight after your intro I.e. Intro into soundbite of product and and a jingle representing the style of show. After will be guest intro into first part of review (Pros)	At the beginning I will first have some music to open the podcast - from the film. After the introduction of the podcast and what it’s about i will move on to the first half of the podcast which will be structured around music,i will include a lot of soundbites as means of examples to discuss. The tone of voice will be soft throughout the podcast - similar to the music tone. On the second half of the podcast I will discuss some scenes as a whole, and other techniques used. After this I will shift the attention to the end of the film and a conclusion before finishing.
Interview Questions / Overview What questions and why. What answers will you hope for?	There won’t be any questions asked though im hoping to answer the questions of how music is used in the film to create meaning and response while explaining some of the ending of the film.
Podcast Intro  How will you set up, What sound effect, jingle, style of intro will it be	The intro style will be quite slow paced, beginning with some piano music from the film, which will then fade into becoming the intro. The music used in the first 6 seconds of ‘Une barque sur l’ocean from miroirs’.
Podcast Outro  How will you set up, What sound effect, jingle, style of outro will it be, how will you end it	After finishing the main analysis of the film, I will conclude the talk and then say a short outro. This will be spoken over the song ‘visions of gideon’ as it's the same song used in the ending of the film. The music will play for roughly 3 seconds after I've finished talking, fading out as it ends. I will include a short sound bite of the film too in between the conclusion and outro, to complete the analysis.
Review / Topic / Subject area  Main Focus area of debate, review, area etc. What will the debate/review consist of? Why will you steer it in that way? How will it affect the show style?	As the podcast will be centred around a deeper analysis of the film the subject area will be about things that you don’t immediately see while watching the film, but still have an impact on you. I will talk about shots but mainly the music as it’s easy to communicate to the audience without any visual components.
Interesting Facts  Box office figures, facts no one knew etc.	There aren’t any stand out facts i will include in my podcast, but the main focus will be about techniques used which most people won't know.
Product Sound Bites  What specific parts will you talk about or discuss, for instance what lyric on a song or what part of a film.	I will talk about songs used in each scenes as a whole, but talk in more detail about the lyric ‘is it a video’ from the song ‘visions of gideon’ I will also talk about the ending scene, a scene where Elio talks to Oliver about his feelings and when they share their first kiss.
